About Our Agency

The 1st Insurance Agency has a long history of providing customers with quality insurance products and excellent service. The agency originally dates back to 1921 when the C. I. Snyder Agency was formed.

Later, Carl Snyder's son, Ned, took over the agency and in 1967. Ned Snyder and Tel Pappajohn merged their agencies forming the Snyder-Pappajohn Agency. The agency continued to grow over the years while acquiring several other insurance businesses in the Mason City area. The Snyder-Pappajohn Agency was then renamed First Interstate Insurance and later Boatmen's Insurance.

In 1997, the current agency owners purchased the business from Nations Bank and named it 1st Insurance Agency. The agency, located on the second floor of the Bank of America building at 25 West State Street in Mason City, employs 14 insurance professionals and specializes in personal, business, and employee benefit insurance.
